Brewing Connections and Community

The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Patti Mainz as the 2025 Businesswoman of the Year, honoring her years of leadership, service, and dedication to the Boerne community. Patti was awarded this honor at our Annual Awards Gala in January 2026.

For Patti, the award came as a complete surprise.

“This was quite unexpected and such an honor,” she shared. “I was humbled to be chosen from amongst many women I admired and was inspired by.”

Patti is best known for her role as co-owner and operator of Black Rifle Coffee Company in Boerne, which she helped lead beginning in 2019. While the original idea came from her son, Mason, who played a key role in connecting with the company's founders and launching the business, Patti became the driving force behind the day-to-day operations as Mason focused on running his gun shop.

The concept was unique from the start: a coffee shop connected to a gun store, backed by a patriotic brand founded by Special Operations Forces veterans. But beyond serving great coffee, Patti saw an opportunity to serve those who serve others.

“Our goal was to serve those who served America,” Patti said. “We supported local active duty, veterans, and first responders out of respect and also in their goal of raising money or awareness.”

Under her leadership, Black Rifle Coffee Company became more than a business. It became a gathering place for the community.

One of Patti's proudest accomplishments was organizing community block parties during a time when many people were feeling isolated and disconnected.

“I felt proud when I hosted block parties for the community and they actually came out and had a good time,” she said. “I felt excited and proud to be connecting people who otherwise wouldn’t have met or gotten to know each other.”

Those events reflected what has become a hallmark of Patti's leadership style: bringing people together and creating opportunities for connection.

“I felt good about being able to support different community outreaches throughout the years and just being a part of how our community succeeds felt important to me,” she added.

While Patti has recently stepped away from her role at Black Rifle Coffee Company, retirement certainly doesn't mean slowing down. She remains actively involved in the community through local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other initiatives, continuing to invest her time and energy into causes she cares about.

As for what's next, Patti says she's still discovering exactly what that future holds.

“I know something big is on the horizon, but I don’t have the complete vision for it yet,” she said. “I plan on continuing to grow personally, physically, financially, educationally and socially, and in that I want to step into another new unfamiliar platform that stirs my passion and allows me to serve the community in a new way.”

Throughout her career, Patti has embraced opportunities to learn and grow, often stepping outside of her comfort zone. Coming from a health and wellness education background, operating a business presented an entirely new challenge.

“Operating Black Rifle has been my biggest lesson and impact on both my personal and professional career,” she said. “I have grown in both those aspects more than any other time in my life.”

That willingness to learn, adapt, and lead has left a lasting impact not only on her business, but on the broader Boerne community.

Patti's commitment to service, her passion for bringing people together, and her continued investment in the success of others embody the spirit of the Businesswoman of the Year award. We are honored to recognize her contributions and look forward to seeing the next chapter of her journey unfold.

Congratulations, Patti Mainz, on being named the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce's 2025 Businesswoman of the Year.
