The second Art Al Fresco
exhibition and competition has started in Boerne. A temporary exhibit, Art al Fresco
is an "art on loan" program consisting of 10 chosen pieces that incorporate a variety of materials including welded steel, bronze, aluminum, blown glass, and others. Created by the City of Boerne and juried by the Public Art Competition Committee, Art al Fresco is a walkable adventure for visitors and residents and is located throughout the city's historic downtown known as Boerne's Hill Country Mile and along Boerne's Trail system. The sculptures are for sale and the City will have the option to purchase at least one of the sculptures at the end of the competition. Be sure to cast your vote on which sculptures you would like to see as part of the permanent collection – the top vote getter will win the honor as “Boerne’s Choice”. In 2016 the City purchased two of the sculptures from the 2015-2016 exhibit for its permanent collection. DANCER 2015 by Jerry Daniel was honored as "Boerne's Choice" after receiving the most public votes. It and COMET & RAVEN: MESSENGER FROM AFAR by Joe Barrington are now part of Boerne's permanent collection of 10 sculptures. To vote, visit Boerne Art Al Fresco’s website
and/or download the mobile app Otocast (Audio Tour).
