Lunchbox Lessons

A New Chamber Program Offering (Mostly Free) Seminars

for Business Owners

The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce is committed to promoting, representing and serving the small businesses that are an integral part of business in Boerne and to enhance the economic health of Boerne’s small business community. Our new monthly Lunchbox Lessons program provides both large and small business owners with access to education and training, as well as wonderful networking opportunities.

Beginning with the third Monday in May, the Chamber invites business owners or their representative to bring their lunch (we’ll provide the drinks) to a learning session that will most often be free to members. Only when we have to pay a speaker or purchase classroom materials will there be a charge and we will announce that in advance.

The May class will be free and features Dayna Cartwright, publisher of TravelHost Magazine of the Texas Hill Country, who will give us lessons on writing effective press releases that will bring more publicity to our businesses.  Do you have some big events coming up that you’ll want to announce to the community? Don’t miss this free Lunchbox Lesson at the Boerne Public Library Conference Room on Monday, May 19 at 11:30 a.m. We’ll provide the drinks; don’t forget your lunch! Reserve your space by online registration or calling the Chamber office (830) 249-8000. Ask for Bonnie.

We’ve already contracted with Sysco Foods to put on a two day ServSafe Class at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel in June that is vital in the food service industry. With rules in place that every facility who serves food requiring someone on staff to be ServSafe certified, this is an excellent opportunity for restaurants and others in the food industry to comply. There will be a fee for this two day certification course.

Another free class we’ll be offering during the lunch hour will be a human resources class that discusses the difference between hourly and salary employees and contract employees. Paul Montoya of HR&M, Human Resource & Management Services of Boerne will lead that class in July.

We’re interested to know what topics might interest you and be helpful to your business. Please contact Bonnie Westley at the Chamber (830-249-8000) or email her so she can add your topic to the list. For more information on registration for any of these classes, call the Chamber.
