Bigtooth Maples for Boerne Tree Adoption

18 - 24 Jul 2006

Bigtooth Maples are sometimes called "Lost" maples because of their isolated geographic range.  These maple trees are highly prized for their autumn hues of brilliant yellows, reds and oranges. It is also valued for its drought tolerance and upright growth, making it ideal for planting along streets and in rocky landscapes.

Imagine brilliant Bigtooth Maples adorning the Boerne cityscape in the upcoming years. That’s what the Boerne Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) is trying to achieve with the Bigtooth Maples for Boerne tree adoption program. By reintroducing this natural treasure, we hope to establish Boerne as a prime destination for viewing fall foliage.

The Boerne Chapter of NPSOT has a limited number of Bigtooth Maple trees that will be awarded to qualifying Boerne residents, organizations or businesses to enhance the local landscape.   For the program's guidelines and a copy of the application, click here or contact Suzanne Young at 249-8240 or send her an email
